Colombian Human Rights Defender Darnelly Rodriguez in Danger! Please take action!

La defensora de los derechos humanos colombiana Darnelly Rodríguez está en peligro. ¡Por favor, actúen!

We are very worried for the safety and security of Centro Pazífico director, Darnelly Rodriguez. On December 24, 2022, she received a death threat from the AGC death squad that listed her by name. This is one of multiple threats she has received from the AGC since the Centro Pazífico opened. These threats have been sent by email, left at public buildings, even delivered to her home. Earlier this year, her office at the Centro Pazífico was broken into and files and thumbdrives were taken.  Darnelly is the coordinator for the Francisco Isaías Cifuentes Human Rights Network (REDDHFIC)’s Valle Del Cauca chapter, who maintain and operate the Centro Pazífico as a community center and refuge for social leaders fleeing violence. Darnelly is a nominee for the 2022 Colombia National Human Rights Prize. Please send the following email to the authorities to demand adequate protection for Darnelly and all the persons who were threatened along with her.  

Estamos muy preocupados por la seguridad de la coordinadora del Centro Pazífico, Darnelly Rodríguez. El 24 de diciembre, recibió una amenaza de muerte con su nombre listado. Esta es una de las múltiples amenazas que ha recibido de la AGC desde que abrió el Centro Pazífico. Estas amenazas se han enviado por correo electrónico, se han dejado en edificios públicos e incluso se han entregado en su casa. A principios de este año, allanaron su oficina en el Centro Pazífico y se llevaron archivos y memorias USB. Darnelly es coordinadora del capítulo Valle del Cauca de la Red de Derechos Humanos Francisco Isaías Cifuentes (REDDHFIC), quienes mantienen y operan el Centro Pazífico como un centro comunitario y refugio para líderes sociales que huyen de la violencia. Darnelly es nominada al Premio Nacional de Derechos Humanos de Colombia 2022.Por favor, envíe el siguiente correo electrónico a las autoridades para exigir una protección adecuada para Darnelly y todas las personas que fueron amenazadas junto con ella.

I demand immediate and adequate protection for Darnelly Rodriguez, coordinator of the Francisco Isaías Cifuentes Human Rights Network - Valle del Cauca, and for all social and union leaders recently threatened in Cali, Colombia, by the Autodefensas Gaitanistas de Colombia (AGC) on December 24, 2022. In the case of Darnelly Rodriguez, the security system provided is not adequate. For example, the vehicle provided by the UNP for Darnelly is in constant need of repairs. The December 24, 2022 death threat is one of multiple threats she has received, and her office at the Centro Pazífico human rights center was recently broken into, with files and thumbdrives robbed. Some threats have even been delivered directly to Darnelly's home. As one of the most active human rights defenders in Cali, Darnelly needs a security scheme equivalent to the number and type of death threats against her. Therefore, I demand

1. That the UNP provide Darnelly Rodriguez with an adequate vehicle for her transportation and protection,
2. That the case of Darnelly Rodriguez and the threats against her be reviewed by the Risk Re-Assessment Committee due to the recent attacks, her vulnerability as a mother, and the general situation of violence against women in Colombia,
3. That the Colombian government open real investigations to determine the material and intellectual authors of the threats received against social leaders and human and labor rights defenders.
