I am making a call for solidarity with the National Strike in Colombia. Especially I add my voice to demand an end to the threats and murders of social activists, former insurgents, union members, and leaders of Afro-Colombian and original peoples. Since December 22, 2019, there has been an assassination of a human rights defender or a former insurgent at the rate of more than one victim per day. This is not acceptable. We demand that the governments of Colombia and the United States end their attacks against the peace accords signed in 2016. These governments have refused to fulfill the peace accords, and the administration of Iván Duque obeys the mandates of his bosses in Washington, DC in order to avoid fulfilling the commitments to the accords that have to do with the right to land, programs of rural development and crop substitution. Instead of this, they have increased the activity of the military and paramilitaries to kill rural and social leaders and massively displace communities. I demand that the Colombian and U.S. governments work for peace and invest in the people and that they stop robbing us to commit outrages against the Colombian people.
Stop the Killings in Colombia!
