Films of the Week

The Women of Wangki

The women of Wangki are indigenous people of the Miskita and Mayangna ethnic groups who inhabit the banks of the Coco or Wangki River in northern Nicaragua and who historically and over the years have suffered triple violence and marginalization for being indigenous, poor, and women. United and empowered, they are fighting to occupy their space in a hostile and macho society, preserving their identity, conserving their ancestral customs, and respecting and defending the environment, which is becoming extinct due to the uncontrollable advance of the agricultural frontier.

Pikineras

The documentary filmed in the territory of the Miskito coast of Nicaragua and Honduras , shows the life and work of Pikineras women, who move to the Miskito cays to get lobster from divers to commercialize it. We will enter into the magical world of the Miskito worldview and the problems these women face in their daily work.

You are still in time to join our delegation!

Advances and Autonomy: Rights of Indigenous and Afrodescendant Peoples on Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast

Interested in supporting but can't join the delegation? Consider making a donation to sponsor our low-income & BIPOC youth delegates!

Delegations are life-changing experiences and critical opportunities to build international solidarity with movements for liberation worldwide. The cost of organizing delegations is expensive -- which poses challenges to making them accessible to our next generation of activists and organizers whose representation should be prioritized. Will you help us break these barriers to participation?

* If you are making a donation to the delegation, please select "Scholarship aid for delegation participants" in the Special Purpose for Donation section. Thank you for your solidarity!
