Join our upcoming delegation to Nicaragua!

Advances and Autonomy: Rights of Indigenous and Afrodescendant Peoples on Nicaraguan Caribbean Coast

January 20 - February 1, 2024

Interested in supporting but can't join the delegation? Consider making a donation to sponsor our low-income & BIPOC youth delegates!

Delegations are life-changing experiences and critical opportunities to build international solidarity with movements for liberation worldwide. The cost of organizing delegations is expensive -- which poses challenges to making them accessible to our next generation of activists and organizers whose representation should be prioritized. Will you help us break these barriers to participation?

* If you are making a donation to the delegation, please select "Scholarship aid for delegation participants" in the Special Purpose for Donation section. Thank you for your solidarity!

Nicaragua Webinar

October 22: Policing Model Church & State in Nicaragua: Probing the Relationship

Noon Pacific time/ 1pm Nicaragua/ 3pm Eastern/ 8pm Greenwich UK

This webinar will confront allegations that the Nicaraguan government is conducting “a cutthroat campaign to silence its opponents, targeting religious orders, Catholic institutions, and media in addition to ordinary people of faith….”  (Newsweek, Oct. 3)  The speakers will also provide troubling evidence about some church leaders' anti-government activities.  Join us for other viewpoints and in-depth discussion, with ample time for your questions during Q&A.

Featuring:

Becca Renk has been a community development worker for over 20 years in Ciudad Sandino, Nicaragua, and a delegation coordinator through Casa Ben Linder, a solidarity project of the Jubilee House Community. She has written several articles about the church in Nicaragua, based on her experiences and research.

Dr. James J. Phillips is a former Jesuit who is seeking a better understanding of religious communities – especially how the Jesuits have arrived at their present position in Nicaragua.  He has authored two books on Honduras (2015 and 2022), as well as articles about Nicaragua where he lived for several years during the contra war and has visited many times since.
