The Colombian Armed Forces must STOP threatening, assaulting, and killing human rights monitors, street medics and health care workers
Please send the following email to Colombian authorities and international human rights organizations, to demand that they stop targeting street medics, human rights monitors, and health care workers, and that they end ALL the assaults against the people during the National Strike. Following is an English translation of the email that will be sent.
The Colombian Armed Forces must STOP threatening, assaulting, and killing human rights monitors, street medics and health care workers who are providing critical services to the people during the National Strike. The Colombian Armed Forces, especially the hated ESMAD riot police, must stop their attacks against all the Colombian people. As a member of the international community, I am shocked and appalled by what I am witnessing. More than 50 people have been killed, over 500 “disappeared”, and the numbers continue to grow. The threats and attacks against people providing medical services to the wounded are crimes against humanity. Both national and international Human Rights monitors have been repeatedly assaulted, including United Nations personnel and those in their company. Hundreds of journalists have been threatened. Why? Because the Colombian government does not want the world to know what is going on. But we do know. AND THIS OUTRAGE MUST STOP!!! The responsibility for all this belongs to the Colombian government, and the US government that supplies the helicopters and weapons used against the strike.
